Former chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir Mehbooba Mufti said that India’s path to become Vishwa Guru goes through J&K and SAARC and not via G-7, G-20 or Quad cooperation.
Mufti, while addressing workers on the party’s 23rd raising day here said that once India resolves the issue of Jammu and Kashmir then nobody can stop it from becoming Vishwa Guru, till then it is a dream and will remain a dream. Around 2000 people were present in the function at the park opposite the PDP’s headquarters on the Residency Road in Srinagar.
“I want to tell Modiji that he often repeats that he wants to make this country a Vishwa Guru. He should first get his house in order. India will become Vishwa Guru, because it has the strength, democracy and secularism that you are tearing into shreds today,” said Mufti, adding, “road to become Vishwa Guru goes through Jammu and Kashmir. Till the time you won't resolve this issue the shackles of J&K will remain in your legs.
The path to become Vishwa Guru doesn't go through G-7 ,G-20 or Quad cooperation but through J&K and SAARC.” She said that the biggest challenge for India since the times of Jawaharlal Nehru is to resolve the issue of J&K. The People’s Democratic Party president said if India wants to become Vishwa Guru, it has to first strive to become the guru in its neighbourhood.
“Srilanka, Bhutan, Nepal and other countries in SAARC what did you do with them? You should have called the SAARC meeting regarding the crisis in Srilanka and Pakistan…when you can't become a guru in your neighbourhood, how can you become the Vishwa Guru,” said.
“Biggest hurdle for SAARC to flourish is the relationship between India and Pakistan.” The PDP leader urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to not behave like an ironsmith using a hammer all the time, but to become a goldsmith who creates jewellery.
The PDP leader said that she has all the right to intervene and speak on foreign affairs as J&K has remained a warzone between India and Pakistan and only people of this region have suffered for the past several decades.
“Why can't I intervene in foreign affairs? Pakistan’s borders also touch Punjab, Gujarat and Rajasthan but firing and blasts only happen on the borders of J&K. War only happens here. Ten lakh forces are only in J&K. Till the time you won't resolve issues with Pakistan, how can the situation improve,” she asked.
Mufti said that she will continue to talk about Pakistan till ten lakh forces are in J&K and the region continues to remain the war zone between India and Pakistan.
